Spring Cleaning The Chemical Free Way – Some Eco Cleaning Tips
It’s that time of year again. The cold weather is receding and it’s time to start thinking about giving the house a really good clean, ready for the spring. But when it comes to spring cleaning and housework, quite often we can be using environmentally damaging chemicals and methods when there are so many eco friendly and natural alternatives
From washing clothes, de-scaling kettles to cleaning floors; there is always an eco friendly alternative to chemicals.
Natural and Chemical Free Methods
There are plenty of ways to get your home clean without resorting to harmful chemicals and detergents and you can get the same results too. Vinegar for instance is great at getting out stubborn stains from almost any surface and can even de-scale kettles .
A spirit vinegar is best as it is odourless and as vinegar isn’t harmful to either you or the environment it is a fare better solution than powerful de-scalers and stain removers.
Resorting to natural methods of drying clothes will also benefit the environment. By using clothes lines and clothes airers we can save money on our electricity bills as we are not using the power hungry tumble dryer.

There are plenty of eco friendly cleaning products available too which are equally effective as their chemical cousins at cleaning. Eco balls for washing machines can clean clothes quite effectively without the need for any detergents and you can even get dryer balls to replace fabric softeners.

There are also eco surface cleaners that use natural ingredients to provide effective cleaning and some remarkable chemical-free cleaning cloths that use just water and clever fabrics to clean floors and surfaces without the need for bleach or detergents.

Swimming pool is green, chemical levels all test normal, "shocking" hasn't helped… what to do??Apparently there's algae… we've put in algae killer but perhaps not enough. Should we try more shocking? More algae killer? Just wait until summer is over and then drain/refill?
